What I think I need to work on
In this post, I haven't got anything new to say, so I'm just shuffling my thoughts around so that I don't think I've forgotten or given up on my project. So I'll just outline what I will work on when I have free time in my life again (sigh).
I stated my goals for the setting already:
Big, Grandiose factions - dignified and uncolonized
Appreciation for the everyday people of the culture.
Well-integrated and impactful Religion and Spirituality
Dripping with gameability for TTRPG players
So to achieve those goals, this is what I plan to add:
More gods - With motivations, relationships to each other, favored sacrifices, and with boons for players
State-sponsored rituals. Ones that happen on great pyramids in capital cities.
Village/Family level rituals. Coming of age rituals. Weddings. Funerals. Births. Superstitions, too.
Festivals (What is Mexico without parties?). Harvest, favored days of local gods. Commemorations of famous events in the past.
Cooking/food rules. Mexican cuisine is a UNESCO human heritage (deservedly). Perhaps most gods ask for their favorite foods as a sacrifice? Or maybe they want human sacrifices instead. Hard to say. Food is important, and it has to be reflected in my setting and rules.
Legends. Rulers of the past. Myths of the gods. Founders of empires.
Textiles. It seems pre-modern people spent most of their days either cooking or making/maintaining clothes, so that ought to be reflected, methinks.
If you're making a setting or know a setting with similar goals to mine let me know what they decided to add, and maybe it will enrich my project.
Happy Dia de Muertos y Todas Almas.
